Dimetrodon was one of the largest predators of its day - it lived during the Permian period. It was more related to mammals than the reptiles it resembles. Reptiles hardly chew their food - they just gulp it down. Dimetrodon had two different types of teeth: shearing teeth for chopping food into small pieces, and sharp canine teety for biting.

Fossils have been found in North Africa and Europe. It's most distinguishing feature was the large sail on its back, which may have been used to regulate body temperature. Using its sail to heat up faster might have given Dimetrodon an advantage over its prey when hunting in the mornings.
